GENERAL FAQ’S FOR THE SCREAMATORIUM & FEAR ASYLUM HAUNTED HOUSE

Is there an age restriction for your attractions? PARENTAL GUIDANCE WARNING
The Screamatorium Haunted House and Fear Asylum Haunted House are not designed to be appropriate for children under the age of 13.  Some of the effects and content of these attractions are disturbing and our performers are not prepared to structure their performances for younger or vulnerable audiences if they become excessively scared.  Parents - WE WANT TO MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR... we are not a funhouse or children friendly event.  We don't want to hear you complain that your kid is crying and can't sleep at night because they went to our haunted houses.  If you do decide to bring your child under 13, that child must be accompanied by a parent at all times.  If you are a parent that wants to bring an infant or toddler, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?
Is it scary?
Hell Yes!  We do our part by providing hands down the scariest haunted attractions in Northern Illinois.  We only have one goal; scare the living yell out of you!  We do not claim to be "spooky" or "Halloweenie" nor do we claim to be in anyway child friendly. The best answer we can give is that 99% of the patrons who come out the back door are screaming.  Our repeat customer rate is very high.  In conclusion, our creatures do not have an off switch and they do not understand what you are saying when you are
screaming Stop! Ok! and Enough!

I'm too scared!  Can I get a refund?
Look, it is our job to scare you and we will.  Stop acting like a little child, it is only a haunted house right?  So what are you whining about?  We have done our job! Let’s get this straight. 1) You paid us money to scare you. 2) You got scared. 3) You got more scared.  4) You got so scared that we had to remove you via our hidden doors and secret passages. I think you owe US money!  THERE ARE NO REFUNDS – NO EXCEPTIONS!

How long does it take to go through the attractions?
It’s really difficult to give an answer to this question since some groups run right through and some people like to take their time to observe the detail and scenes.  On a normal night it will take about 20-25 minutes to go through the Screamatorium and Fear Asylum .

How many patrons go through the attractions at one time?
Normally, we send groups of 6-8 at a time.  We like to keep our groups relatively small so everyone can experience a good quality show. We will try to accommodate you if you have a specific number in your group.  We promise we won’t make you go through alone……

Yes and No!  At the Screamatorium part of the waiting area is inside our covered que line but on busier nights the line will extend outside as well. There is no indoor waiting at the Fear Asylum, so remember to bring your rain gear if the weather looks a little nasty.  It's only a little rain..you're not made of sugar

Are restroom facilities available?
It has happened before (hundreds of times)!  Adults and kids alike have peed their pants going through our attractions; so therefore we have restroom facilities onsite.  Your other option is to wear Depends.

If I’m in line at closing time will I still get in?
Our box office closes at the Screamatorium and Fear Asylum at 10 p.m. on weekdays and Sundays and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.  We sell our last ticket at those times however we still allow visitors who have purchased a ticket to enter the attraction until everyone is through.  Your best bet is to assure that you are at our ticket booth before those noted times.  Many people complain about long lines but everyone shows up around 9 p.m.  Our suggestion is for you to come early and buy your ticket so you are one of the first in line. On busy nights (Fridays and Saturdays) the box office will monitor ticket sales and adjust the box office closing time accordingly. Idea.... Get there early!

What happens in cases of inclement weather?
The Screamatorium and Fear Asylum are indoor attractions and will not close due to normal seasonal weather conditions.    In the unlikely event that extreme weather forces any of our attractions to be closed on a given night, tickets can be used on any other day that we are open. The decision will be made at approximately 5 p.m.  A closing announcement will be posted on our website. Don't let the rain scare yah, that is our job.  Don't worry, you are not made of sugar, you will not melt.

Do your attractions accept credit cards?
